Camping Season is Here!

Last month, I had the opportunity to camp in the Fourmile Recreation Area near Buena Vista, Colorado. My first time camping here and I absolutely loved it!

It was so easy to get to these terrific campsites just off Highway 285, about 2 hours south of Denver. My Honda CRV made it just fine down the dirt road leading to the campsites.

The sites themselves were private, large, and the best feature…..AMAZING views of the Collegiate Peaks. 🌄 Of course, pics will do no justice to this incredible landscape.

The area itself is great for hiking, biking, ATV riding, horseback riding, and dirt biking. 🥾🌲🚵🏾‍♂️🏕 The town of Buena Vista is about 20 minutes away if you decide to check out the town for a meal or need groceries.

📱A note about cell service… I love camping because it is so relaxing to me. It’s a chance to get away from the screens. However, I work weekends (I do love my job!) and sometimes I need to take a call or respond to an email. This area had awesome coverage with AT&T. It’s all about work/life balance, right?

These are primitive sites, so bring everything you need for your stay including water, firewood, and your potty. 😉 And of course, pack it all out when you leave! Don’t be a jerk.

This was my first experience camping in a camper! For real, this gal has always tent camped. ⛺️What a game changer! I was warm and cozy the whole night even with a 70lb dog sleeping on me. Haha. I never heard the wind during the night. There was plenty of space. The bed folds back up into a couch during the day too.

The camper makes preparing meals and cleanup so convenient. The kitchen area in the back has a cooktop, refrigerator, sink, and storage. I’m feelin’ spoiled. Is this glamping?

I’m sure these first come, first served sites fill up quickly in the summer months. In April, we had no trouble. It was so quiet and peaceful.

Looking forward to a lot more camping this summer! Next up…. Lake George, Colorado.
